As a photographer specializing in newborn photography, there’s nothing quite as magical as capturing the first moments! Recently, I had the pleasure of working with a beautiful baby girl in a petite newborn session at my studio in Calgary.
The session was scheduled for 1 hour, which gave us just enough time to set up three different scenes and capture a variety of stunning shots. I always love the challenge of creating unique and personalized setups that reflect the style and personality of each family, and this session was no exception.
First, we focused on getting some beautiful close-up shots of the baby’s fingers and toes. There’s something so special about those little details that will change so quickly as the baby grows, and I always want to make sure we capture them in all their perfection.
We used a soft, neutral backdrop that allowed the focus to be solely on the baby’s tiny features, and the results were breathtaking.
Next, we moved onto some more traditional shots of the baby laying on her back, swaddled in a cozy blanket. We used a simple wooden crate as a prop, adding just the right touch of rustic charm to the scene.
She looked absolutely adorable, and we were able to capture a variety of poses and angles that really showcased her delicate features!
Finally, we ended the session with a couple of black and white shots that highlighted the baby’s sweet, expressive face. Black and white photos have a timeless quality that I always love. They worked perfectly with the simple, classic style we had established throughout the session.
Throughout the entire session, the baby was calm and content, which allowed us to capture some truly magical moments. As a photographer, there’s nothing quite as fulfilling as seeing the joy on a family’s face as they view the finished photos of their new baby. It’s an honor to be able to capture these precious moments and preserve them for years to come.
